| Josh Denney Vice President Public Policy Government Affairs
| Josh Denney is Vice President of Public Policy at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). He manages a team of professionals charged with following all residential mortgage public policy issues, developing the Association's positions on those issues and representing the interests of the MBA's member companies before federal agencies and executive branch officials. He also staffs MBA's Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG). Denney previously served as the Association's primary liaison with Republican members of the U.S. Senate.
Prior to joining MBA in early 2004, Denney was Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee's Subcommittee on International Trade and Finance and Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.). He advised the Senator on financial, economic and commerce issues, including banking, housing, transportation, taxes, the federal budget and the postal service. In his time with the Senator, he also covered issues pertaining to agriculture, Native Americans, law enforcement, health care and telecommunications. Denney served as the Senator's chief spokesperson with the national news media in 2002.
Prior to his service in the Senate, Denney managed public affairs campaigns for a variety of government, corporate and nonprofit clients at Powell Tate/Weber Shandwick in Washington. Denney holds a master's degree in political management from The George Washington University. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a bachelor's degree in corporate communication and public affairs from Southern Methodist University.
Denney earned his Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) designation in 2007.
Denney lives in Potomac, Md. with his wife, Deborah, and their two children.
