WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 13, 2008) – John A. Courson, Chief Operating Officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) today issued the following statement
in response to President-elect Obama’s announcement of Shaun Donovan to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development (HUD).
“Shaun Donovan will bring experience, energy and innovative thinking to HUD at a crucial time in our nation’s history. He
has previous experience at HUD both as acting FHA Commissioner and as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing and
we welcome his broad knowledge of the issues facing both the single and multi family markets.
“His work in the private, non-profit and academic sectors gives him a unique perspective on the current turmoil in the housing
market and he has been widely hailed during his time as New York City’s Housing Commissioner. We look forward to working
with him to solve the ongoing crisis in the U.S. housing market.”
